Felted Soap Workshop
Marg Lynn held an introduction to felting workshop to teach a felting techniques. Participants learnt how to felt a layer of wool around the soap encasing it completely and then how to decorate the felted soap. When one rubs the felted soap between running water and one's hand it generates a lovely lather. The uses are very beneficial, better than a washcloth, gentle exfoliation, and last longer than non felted soap.

Visit to Hannaflower art's studio and home
On a mild sunny spring day. Friends of the Gallery visited the studio and home of @hannaflowerart.
Our eyes were very busy, every single corner has got some pretty details to grab our attention, from her creative interior decoration to her artwork in different mediums: Traditional Chinese paintings, water colour, pastel, oil painting, painting on clay, pencil drawing, super delicate painted fans.
Morning tea was special with the home-made moon cake. As three days later, it will be the second import Chinese festival Mid-Autumn festival. After everybody introduce themselves during the tea time, Hannah gave us another tour with more back stories about her collections and artworks. With great ability to intigration, her house has been decorated in an east and west fusion style, elegant and hormonious.
Then we have some fun and challenge. Painting snow bamboo on a delicate fan. Hannah demostrated in about 10mins, her gentle approch made things looked so easy. While she was away as a master chef to prepare the lunch for us, we were painting and chatting, everybody ended up with a unique fan with their own style. We will not be too hot this summer, as we all have a painted fan! Lunch time is always a highlight! With her magic creation, the table had been beautifully presented with hot and sour soup, dumplings, fried rice, salad...We were very spoiled and contented.
10am to 2pm, four hours happy time seemed have passed fast. When we say thankyou and goodbye to Hannah, we were all inspired in various ways...

Bus Tour to the Hills
On a cloudy warm day winters day, a group of artists and Friends of the Gallery had a delightful tour of through the beautiful hills. They visited Mclaren Vale's visitor centre viewing a joint exhibition, the Fleurieu Arthouse, and the Dairy Studio/Gallery of artist Julie Garrard who gave a watercolour demonstration of her sophisticated watercolour technique. After lunch at the newly renovated Beerenberg centre the group were taken on guided tour of Hans Heysen's home and studio The Cedars. They were all amazed by his art studio's architecture, high ceiling, massive windows and natural light without any shadow. The guide Mary certainly knew so much history of the place, her passionate story telling add a lot more interest to the visit. The trip home was full of conversation as the group enjoyed the glowing country view under the golden sunset light...
