The gallery has an enthusiastic “Friends of the Gallery” group who were invited to submit photographs of their favourite places in their neighbourhood. More than 60 photographs of the local area were submitted. The artists from the gallery selected their favourite photographs and used them as inspiration to create artwork for this exhibition.
The 30 works in the exhibition include paintings, sculptures, woodwork, textiles, glass, and pyrography. They are pictured below next to the photograph that inspired them.
The artworks are being offering for sale via a "silent auction” that will run throughout the exhibition.
Phone bids can be submitted by:
phoning the gallery on 0484907491 during gallery opening times 11am-4pm daily
or
phoning Geraldine on 0416350901 after hours.

Reflections of the Bluff at Encounter Bay |
The Bluff at Low Tide
Oil on Board (35cmx28cm) Artist: John “Rowdy” Wiley Reserve price: $75 For me this photo is very inspirational due to the uniqueness of the landscape. The Ramindjeri & the Ngarrindjeri history & connection to the country. They lived in this marvellous seascape & landscape region. Our earlier pioneers sailed & fished the coastal waters for whale oil & food. A very historic coastline with beautiful scenery & numerous tourists visiting each year. |

On days like these, you could be forgiven for thinking you're in the Greek Islands. |
Community Seaview
Oil on handmade recycled paper glued to board (25cmx40cm) Artist: John “Rowdy” Wiley Reserve price: $75 For me this photo is inspirational, highlighting the Church & ‘steeple’ in the ‘centre’ of the composition, pointing skyward, with the sea views, and the surrounding trees, palms, & shrubs. Most importantly encompassing & building the local community. Painted in oil with a palette knife on recycled handmade paper and support board, protected by glass frame. |

The Seascape
Acrylic, pen, collage (40cmx30cm) Artist: Geraldine Rosser Reserve Price: $65 I have always liked living close to the sea...and this is also reflected a lot in my artwork that I make...I try to make a habit weekly of just being close to the sea, even if only briefly. |

Nate the dog would sit in this doorway while his master renovated the interior. He was more than happy to pose for the photos. To encourage him to cock his head, the word "beach" was all that needed to be said.

Love the sandy road less travelled! |
A Walk to The Beach
Acrylic on Canvas (50cmx40cm) Artist: Althea Holmes Reserve price: $190 I can smell the sand and hear the waves breaking over the crest of the sandhill. It's early morning and not many footprints mark the passage of walkers. |

Our pond produces beautiful waterlilies every November and provides protection for our gold fishes. |
Waterlily
Acrylic & Watercolour pencil on paper (42cmx35cm) Artist: Althea Holmes Reserve price: $285 Tranquil and serene. I used watercolour pencils and thinned acrylics to respect the watery aspect of the scene while enhancing the voluptuous look of lily. |

On 5/11/22, before the expected flow comes down the Murray from floods further north. It's already experienced a wetter than average winter. |
Milang
Felted Shopping bag (42cmx35cm) Artist: Althea Holmes Reserve price: $68 This amazing combination of colours didn't work for me as a painting. So, it has morphed into a bag! |

How much joy those beautiful flowers from the fundraiser have given me this week. They are so pretty, and they remind me of the beauty in the area we live in and the wonderful community. |

St Joan of Arc Church in Victor Harbor. On days like these, you could be forgiven for thinking you're in the Greek Islands. |
A Touch of Italy
Pastel (28 x 38cm work without frame) Artist: Margaret McEntee Reserved price: $375 A little touch of Italy here in Victor Harbor. Inspired by the warm tones of the church roof and being reminded of travels throughout Italy. |

Driving around in Fleurieu, the hay bales in the endless farmland always caught my eyes |
Hay Bales
Acrylic on Canvas (60cmx30cm) Artist: Annette Vandenberg Reserve price: $200 How my neighbourhood has changed!! This used to be, the view from our back garden for many years. I love open spaces, and big dramatic skies. |

This is Edna. She loves a staring match with a camera. She will stay absolutely motionless and stare until the person removes the camera.

The grandeur of the rocks in the granite island always amazes me. |
Rock Tales
Watercolour (23x32cm) Artist: Wendy Jennings Reserve price: $100 I chose this because it grabs your attention with the shape. Granite boulders on the island are ancient, and they have been used as seating platforms, and places for sea birds to crack open the shellfish they wish to eat for a very long time. I just think of the many people over tens of thousands of years who have used this rock for shelter. Oh! what tales that rock could repeat to us. The plant in the foreground grows near the rock. It is a Tall Rock Sida: Sida Calyxhymenia |
Granite Island Pop Ups
Watercolour (23cmx32cm) Artist: Wendy Jennings Reserve price: $100 These bright bulbs grow on the island in just a few places, including near this rock. They are Pink Garland lilies, which pop up and flower before the leaves appear. |

Sunsets from our back door. If you zoom in to the left of the tree, you can see Mt Breckan. |
Evening Light
Oil on canvas (31cmx42cm) Artist: Lyle Bartel Reserve Price: $300 It is framed behind glass because I wanted a border to complement the warm peaceful light of the subject. |
Photographer: Helen Zhuo (FOG Member)
So much fun cockling at Goolwa beach. |
Making a Splash
Oil on canvas (33cmx44cm) Artist: Lyle Bartel Reserve Price: $290 Painted from a photo which I cropped to improve the composition and make the child the focal point. Placed behind glass so I could use a coloured border to complement the subject. |

Vintage suitcases and objects show us that the railway has been there for a long time. |
Lost Milk Can
Pyrography on wood (22cmx18cm) Artist: Maria Jones Reserved price: $50 The milk can was used into the 60's so it's a memory for some people. I remember seeing them, but it is an unusual object to find on a railway station. More nostalgia. |
Photographer: Steve Cook (FOG member) Hazel is the organizer of an occasional Saturday morning greyhound walk. And she took the photo (I wanted to take one but she said "I'm the only one who takes the photos here", so I gave her the opportunity to get a second one with her in it, to which she replied "I don't want to be in it")...ah well.

Local Heroes
Acrylic on art board (56cmx46cm) Artist: Victor Maloney Reserve price: $150 The painting was inspired by a group of local dog walking friends, with their whippets. Some of these dogs are retired track champions. |

We live in Encounter Bay and enjoy taking our dogs to walk in the surrounding countryside. |
Beautiful Bay
Fused Glass (Glass 15x15, Frame 25x25) Artist: Kate Shierlaw Reserve Price: $65 I often walk my dog along the same path that this photo was taken from, the view back to Victor Harbor across the water is glorious and always uplifts me. I wanted to capture the main elements of the scene - the ever-present Bluff, the sweep of the bay and the rocks and plants in the foreground. |
Azure Bay
Fused Glass (Glass 15x15, Frame 25x25) Artist: Kate Shierlaw Reserve Price: $65 This is an alternative interpretation of the same photo of the glorious view of across Encounter Bay back to Victor Harbor. I wanted to capture the main elements of the scene in hyperreal colours that expressed how uplifting the view is. |
Photographer: Theresa Collins (FOG member)
Encounter Lakes at sunset time. |
Sunrise
Camphor Laurel (wood) Artist: Trevor Jones Reserve price: $80 Sunrise and sunset often provide beautiful and uplifting displays such as this moment captured in the photograph. Woodturning constantly surprises me as the natural beauty of wood grain, colour and figure is revealed during the turning. This turning of Camphor Laurel is as beautiful and uncontrived as the sunrise reflected on the water. |

The Hindmarsh River facing east, from the footbridge to the primary school and Tom Stevens Reserve. |
