Michael's passion for writing led him to the art of bookbinding and paper marbling. Here is his story. Books are a very important part of my life, and I have spent many years trying to complete the illusive novel. I must admit that in all those years I never really considered how books were made. When I went to work in the print industry all this changed and I got to see the wonderful intricacies of book construction. But I wanted to know more, and from there I was very blessed to find a bookbinding teacher who would teach me about book construction in the traditional way. Alongside book production, I practise the art of paper marbling and work with acrylic paints in a large Carrageenan bath to pull one-of-a-kind prints. |
